Courses & Dives

Do I have to know how to swim to do the Discover Scuba Diving class?

Yes. You don’t have to be an Olympic swimmer, but we do require you to pass a swim test at the beginning of the pool session.

What should I wear/bring with me?

Anything you would normally wear/bring to a pool or on a boat. Wear a bathing suit you are comfortable in. Bring a towel, sunscreen, and any refreshments you may want. 

Do you provide lunch or drinks?

We do not provide lunch. We do provide fresh water for drinking and a big cooler for anything you’d like to bring. And yes, alcohol is allowed but only after you are finished diving or snorkeling.

Youth

We are bringing one of our kid's friends on vacation with us. Can I sign as their guardian?

As long as you have written permission from a parent or guardian that gives you temporary permission to sign as their guardian.

I still only have my Junior Open Water certification card but I'm 15 years old. Can I do the Vandenberg?

Yes, although the card itself isn’t updated, you automatically become a regular Open Water Diver once you turn 15.

Returns & Cancellation Policy

What is your return policy for store purchases?

No refunds. All retail sales are final. Exchanges only if we can still sell the item as new.

Cancellations & General Charter Boat Policy

24 hours cancellation notice for refund. Altering, rescheduling, or canceling before 24 hours of the scheduled check in time is acceptable. Once we are within 24 hours of the scheduled check in time, we obligate everyone to show up, including any considerations due to weather.  Weather conditions will be determined by Southpoint Divers.

If you want to cancel your dive, please contact us during business hours either by phone or this email: cancellations@southpointdivers.com.
Any cancellations by email we receive after hours will not be honored.

  • Captain cancels – FULL REFUND.
  • If customer cancels within 24 hours of scheduled check in time for any reason including undocumented illness – NO REFUND.
  • Seasickness – NO REFUND.
  • Once the boat leaves the dock – NO REFUND.
  • No contact, No show – NO REFUND.
Instructional Courses Reservation Policy

72 hours. Due to scheduling and availability considerations for our staff, we need at least 72 hours notice of any changes for instructional courses. Once we are within 72 hours of the scheduled class the reservation is non-cancelable, non-transferable, and non-refundable.

50% non-refundable deposit may be required.

Group Policy

7 days. Groups of 8 or more paying guests receive 20% off the normal price and one (1) dive or group leader may go complimentary. If the group is 16 or more than two (2) dive or group leaders may go complimentary. We offer discounts to groups because they assure us of a larger number of paid spots on the boat. Because of the larger number of spots we reserve for them, we require 7 days notice of any changes or cancellation. If the number drops below 8 paying guests, they may receive a 10% discount and the dive or group leader may go for 50% off. 

50% non-refundable deposit may be required.

Private Charters

7 days. A private charter is done strictly on an availability basis. Prices will fluctuate according to the season. We reserve the entire boat on a half day or full day charter so we request 7 days notification to have time to rebook the boat.
